The Hamilton Nationals host the Ohio Machine this week in the MLL.
The Hamilton Nationals begin a two-game homestand today when they host the Ohio Machine at 7:30 p.m. The Nationals can secure a playoff berth with a win and a Charlotte and Rochester loss. A lot needs to happen, but its good to know as a player that you're team can clinch a spot earlier than most teams and not have to worry about a last second opportunity to make it into the playoffs with the final spot.
Players To Watch:
A Nationals player to watch has to be Kevin Crowley. Crowley has turned lots of heads this season with his performances, including a hat trick in last weeks MLL All Star game. He is dangerous and can always put up another similar performance like he had in the All Star game. Brett Queener also had a great performance in the MLL All Star, even scoring a goal in the game. Queener is undoubtally one of the best goalies in the league and will be a challenge in the cage for Ohio.
Players to watch for Ohio include Logan Schuss. Schuss has been one of the highlights in Ohio's rather dismal season. Schuss has 17 goals to his credit, but those aren't huge numbers at this point in the season. He does what he can with what he has to work with. Another one to look out for is Chazz Woodson, he hasn't been doing as good as in years past, but he's due for a breakout night.
Keys To Victory:
Hamilton's key to victory is to play like they have been. There is no need to change up the game plan when playing Ohio but don't get ahead of yourselves. In my opinion, there is no such thing as an easy win, you have to work as hard, every game, or you're attitude will get to you, and you start making mistakes. If they can play like they have been, they can get the win saturday.
Ohio needs to work hard to get this win. a 1-9 record coming into this game doesn't help, but a one goal differential loss to the reigning MLL champs does. Last game, Ohio barely loss to the Bayhawks, so that brings a lot of momentum into this game, and they will be looking to upset the Nats. They need to strike early in this game and often. Lots of teams take advantage of Hamilton in the first quarter, so Ohio needs to go all out, right when they step on the field, and they could jump to an early lead which would help them later on.
My prediction for this game is a Hamilton win. Ohio is too inconsistent, and Hamilton just has a star stunted line up in Kevin Crowley, Joe Walters, Cody Jamieson, and Brett Queener. Hamilton wins it 14-8
