The Ohio Machine get their first win this MLL season against the Rochester Rattlers.
Joe Cummings tallied five goals and Connor Martin had a hat trick, while Ohio beat Rochester 13-11 on Saturday. The win is the Machine’s first of the season.
Cummings did most of his work in the first quarter. He tallied three goals in the first 6:05 of the game. Ohio needed all of them, too. Both teams traded scores and ended the quarter tied at four.
The Rattlers let up in the second quarter, though. Ohio outscored them 5-2 in the period thanks to two goals by Connor Martin. Matt Striebel and John Galloway were the bright spots for Rochester. Striebel tallied two goals in the frame, while Galloway made 15 saves in the first half. If not for that, it could’ve been worst. Still, Ohio led 9-7
The third was quarter was quiet for both teams. Each tallied a goal and it was still a two score lead for the Machine going into the fourth.
Rochester tied the score 3:10 into the final frame, but Ohio answered. Chazz Woodson topped of a three goal run with a tally at the 10:03 mark to give his team its largest lead of the night 13-10. John Ranagan tallied one more, but Ohio held on for the 13-11 win.
